Alaska, Jackson, and everywhere in between.

I grew up in rural Alaska and commercial fished from age twelve to twenty-six, from the Bering Sea to the Gulf of Alaska. In 1996 I co-founded Teton Gravity Research with a 16mm camera bought with fishing money, and served as its President through 2008, producing and directing 25 award-winning films that helped define adventure filmmaking.

In 2009 I founded OneEyedBird Marketing and Entertainment and spent fifteen years directing for Disney, National Geographic, Rolex, Apple, HBO, Red Bull, Samsung, DJI, Land Rover, and the U.S. Department of Defense. The work spans feature documentaries, more than 100 episodes of television, and global product launches. NBC’s World of Adventure Sports, which I produced and directed segments for, won an Emmy; my own work has been Emmy nominated.

I have led expeditions on seven continents and in more than 35 countries. In 2019, on the National Geographic and Rolex Perpetual Planet expedition, I led the science team that installed the world’s highest weather station on Everest. I sailed 12,000 nautical miles across the Southern Ocean with Mike Horn. With Jimmy Chin I have worked on launches for DJI and Land Rover and, most recently, as expedition and aerial producer on Everest: The Other Side.

In 2024 I co-founded Planet 5, a company that funds mountain preservation through coffee, fine art, and expeditions. I run it from Jackson, Wyoming, and I still take the field work that built the career: directing, producing, and leading crews where the map runs out.
